Duo Recital with Sae Shimabara and Kyoko Asaka
On July 13, the Yamaoka Memorial Foundation hosted the recital "The Traditional Sound of Dresden – A Musical Journey Across Time" featuring Sae Shimabara and Kyoko Asaka at the Yanmar Museum in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. A total of 126 people attended.
The purpose of this recital is to introduce classical music to a wide audience, including children, through high-quality performance and informative commentary, allowing attendees to appreciate both the beauty and depth of the music.
Mayor Asami of Nagahama City also attended and expressed his gratitude for the foundation's music education initiatives for children in Nagahama.
He also highlighted the city's rich musical history and its importance.
The program featured famous works by European composers, primarily from Germany, including Schubert, Richard Strauss, and Bach.
The repertoire ranged from pieces filled with vigor to elegantly refined works, offering a broad spectrum of musical expression.
Throughout the recital, the host provided engaging commentary on composers' anecdotes and music history, allowing the audience to deepen their understanding while enjoying the music.
The harmony created by the violin and piano was especially moving, and the audience was visibly absorbed in the expressive, soul-stirring performances.
The atmosphere was warm and immersive, encouraging listeners to linger in the musical experience.
In addition to the duo pieces, both violin and piano solos were performed, and the audience enjoyed the distinctive tonal qualities of each instrument.
For the encore, Ms. Shimabara performed "Hamabe no Uta" arranged for violin and piano, creating a poignant sense of the performance coming to an end.
