Duo Recital with Takehiro Shinohara and Kyoko Asaka

The Yamaoka Memorial Foundation held the "Duo Recital with Takehiro Shinohara and Kyoko Asaka" at the Yanmar Museum on Sunday, July 11, 2021.

The purpose of the concert was to provide the audience, and especially children, who will be the leaders of the next generation, with an opportunity to experience German Romantic music through a performance of the highest quality paired with an easy-to-understand commentary. In this way, we want to familiarize them with classical music and let them experience its beauty and depth. The concert featured music by great German composers such as Beethoven, Bach, and Brahms, and was enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to the elderly, as well as those who are not well versed in music.

The beautiful harmonies created by the piano and clarinet made some of the audience sway slowly and surrender to the music as they enjoyed the pieces. A wide range of music was performed, from gentle and relaxing pieces to powerful pieces filled with the composer's soul. This wonderful performance made the audience want to listen to the music forever.
The presenter introduced episodes from the composers' lives and explained the history of music in an easy-to-understand manner, giving the audience an opportunity to enjoy the concert more deeply.
The presenter also explained the mechanism of the clarinet and the highs and lows of its sound, which provided an opportunity for children to become more familiar with an instrument they have never played before.

When the encore piece was over, the audience was left with a feeling of regret that such a wonderful time had ended. At the end of the performance, lively applause echoed throughout the concert hall.
In the audience questionnaire, some people said that it was soothing to listen to a live performance for the first time in a long time and that the beautiful sound had brought back memories of German towns they had visited in the past.
In response to the question, "Would you like to have other concerts like this in the coming years?", all respondents answered in the affirmative. This goes to show that many people hope for these concerts to be held every year.
Even though we had to limit the number of visitors in line with measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, this year's concert was very well received.
